Surrounded by hills, built from old and new stone houses, springs up on the edge of the same named bay in the canal which Prukljan lake connects with the Sibenik bay.

Most easily, you can come to Zaton by the sea-way. The sea is peaceful here, never expresses the fury; does not whip the coast, neither threatens small boats nor houses which are in the closeness of the coast. Unlike the coast and the sea on neighboring islands, beside Zaton coast, there are few wellsprings. Salinity of the sea you can feel by the lighthouse on Jadrija, on the relative wide entrance in Canal St. Ante, or on the exit, depending in which direction you sail. When after the winding gorge of steep, almost vertical coast, which has hollowed out antediluvian Krka, before you snaps the picture of Sibenik, towards Zaton the ship needs to direct left, right by the thin arch of Sibenik Bridge.

When the passenger finds him self ashore, his view must climb alongside hillsides of hillocks, collide with red roofs and greenery to the treetops. Long ways at the seaside, on which you can pleasantly take a walk during the summer and in the winter, are reflecting the peace and harmony of this Dalmatian place. It’s a beautiful walkway next to the sea which has stretched around three kilometers, from the cove Dobri dolac to the cove Sarina draga. In the hinterland of Zaton, there are valuable fields, gardens, vineyards, olive groves and plants of figs. Small local market with the fish-market ashore is full with domestic fruits, without exception and special efforts ecologically produced.

In eyes immediately falls in the cleanliness of streets and adequately arranged green areas, decorated with traditional baskets (krtoli) from twigs of raseljka in which has been planted flowers. Zaton is the ideal place for the rest, recreation as well as the excursion tourism. Because of exceptional convenient natural conditions, for needs of the Mediterranean sport games in 1979, in Zaton have been arranged the quality rowing path with accompanying contents. On the path even today train many teams and representations.
