We invite you to try the adventure and to discover the sea bottom of the Sibenik area, which, along with the various and preserved plant and animal world abounds with a multitude of caves, walls, hydro-archaeology attractions and shipwrecks. This area offers a synthesis of the northern and the southern underwater worlds of the Adriatic Sea: clear seas, with cliffs and sunken reefs, caves and deep depressions concealing many still undiscovered wrecks. Diving is possible year round due to pleasant sea temperatures, especially in the period between May and November.

Diving tourism in Croatia has been increasing in popularity 1996, following the cessation of war activities in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Annual growth in the number of tourists has been between 15 and 20%, and with it grew the number of professional diving centres organized in the near vicinity of the most attractive locations along the coastline, in order to enable divers from all over the world to abandon themselves to enjoying the Croatian submarine world, while at the same time being able to feel secure under professional supervision and with all the

necessary safety measures in place. Today, the number of registered and licensed diving centres exceeds 100, with the largest number being located in Istria and Kvarner, and in the area of Central Dalmatia.

Organised diving consists of diving activities which professional tourist diving centres (companies) or amateur diving clubs (associations) possessing concession approvals for training of divers and organisation of diving excursions carryout in the area of territorial seas and interior waters of the Republic of Croatia.

Individual diving is a form of underwater activity carried out by local and foreign natural persons without the supervision and organisation of certified diving instructors from diving centres or diving clubs. Natural person who wish to carry out underwater activities independently with the use of autonomous equipment in this manner must possess an Approval for individual diving which they can obtain at the harbour master's office or branch of the harbour master's office.

The Kornati area is virtually inexhaustible in its variety of locations offering quite specific types of underwater relief: steep walls teeming with life, underwater caves, crevices and passages covering a large area of northern Dalmatia. accessing diving locations, but their position ensures that they also attract a greater number of divers.

Starting from the Sibenik area, where the Kornati archipelago teems with many diverse varieties of marine life and is so easily accessible to diving centres situated along the main belt on land (Vodice, Murter, Sibenik Primosten), and all the way to the area of the large islands of central Dalmatia, this zone represents a true threshold to the Adriatic.
